Post Noble Conservation Project with Hawgtown Bassmasters
What a long day indeed, I was invited by the Hawgtown gang to go with them down to TooGood pond in Unionville (Markham) for a Hawgtown Conservation Project on behalf of the MNR, with the event sponsored by the MNR and B.A.S.S. We would be creating "Spawn Beds" for Bass to spawn more successfully by laying down a brick walls and stones/rocks around it giving them safe structure to spawn on as suggested by Wil Wegman. I used to live down the road from TooGood and fished there a few times on days i had only a hour to fish lol. So i thought it would be nice to see the place more lively with bass for future urban anglers to enjoy. The Hawgtown Boys (and girls) likes to work hard and fish even harder! So the meeting was called for 7:30am to start the task at hand

With the Rocks for the beds arriving on time and donated by Jolly Farmers Supply, they had to be shoveled in the parking lot and taxi down to the work area with a Rhino (ATV) that Steve was able to bring which was donated by YAMAHA CANADA.. then the loading team (me included lol) had to load the rock trays onto the raft and inflatable boat to be pulled out and planted by wading team. With a total of 16 beds altogether, 12 people from the club who had time this weekend to make it out to help...we worked hard, exhausting our supplies and got the job done by 12pm

Those were the few shots i was able to take before i got put to work lol.. Jeffy took tons of pictures that he will be uploading soon, I had a great time even though it was a Sunday of not fishing.. but i cannot think of any better way of sacrificing a fishing day then to help out on a Conservation Project with a group of outstanding people..

Cheers everyone on a great job - Ice

guy my dog cannot run too fast since he's overweight. I made that dash over thinking you caught a trout seeing how big that fish was from my side of the park haha

Thanks.
Doing things like Toogood Pond make you feel good about being part of a club.

We were visited by some of the staff of the Town of Markham during the day and they loved what they saw. /tup

They have already started coming up with more projects for our club to perfrom at the pond and posably others for them. Can you say snowball. /tup /tup /tup

So, if any of you guys and gals (we do have one female member so far) are interested in joining a local club feel free to message me. /salute

I am glad to see clubs like Hawgtown ensuring a bright future and setting a good example for the next generation anglers. How old do you need to be to join fishing clubs? My oldest Darrel is 14 and Kevin is turning 8 next month
